We were told without ICSI that other sperm (not the fertilizing one) can be stuck to the outer shell of the egg, so when they biopsy, that material ends up in the sample too, resulting in contamination. It may lead to false positive. I am not a scientists but it made sense.

They quoted me 3000 for the testing and 1500 to SG. I think that is up to 12 embryos.

Biopsy (fee goes to SG) 1500
Actual PGS (fee goes directly to genetics lab) 2500-3000, depending which lab you use.
ADDITIONALLY, they use ICSI with PGS so that's another 1800-2000
AND for freezing there is a separate fee as well.
After all said and done it's about 8 (eight) grand. Unless you have a specific genetic disorder, insurance considers it experimental and does not pay a zip.

If you expect to have embryos from different cycles - the cost depends depends. If you freeze all and bank them over more than one cycle - yes, same fee, but depending on the number there might be an extra "per unit" fee (over 12 believe). If you want a fresh cycle with overnight PGS you have to pay every time. They should give you detailed and specific info.

Did you do ICSI?

Yes, but we had to do ICSI anyway due to male factor. The IVF cycles were covered by insurance. PGS, biopsy and cryopreservation were out of pocket.

Yes, we used our FSA money for IVF. YOu can use it for cryopreservation, or ICSI, etc.

The embryo biopsy fee charged by SG is $1500. Ivigen charges $2500 for 1-8 embryos. So it is a total of $4000 for just the PGS, in addition to the rest of the IVF cycle and cryopreservation fees.
Our insurance did not cover a cent of PGS costs.

PP here again. I missed the second part of your question. Yes, the lab I am working with said that the $3000 is a one-time fee for up to 8 embryos until a live birth. So if you end up doing multiple cycles, and have 3 embryos one cycle, 4 another, etc, then you still only pay the $3000.

I'm in the middle of a Shared Risk PGS cycle. My understanding is that it does cost $1500 (SG fees) for the biopsy and another $3000 for the testing. Some people are saying $2500, but the lab has changed as of about a month ago. Perhaps they are still working with both labs in which case you could get the $2500 fee. If you are in Shared Risk, the SG fee goes up to $4000. So I paid a total of $7000 for everything. Hope this helps!
