I would take her to the dr. Maybe she can be started on a small dosage pill to regulate her period and get rid of the cramps. I know 13 is young for the pill but if it makes her feel better, maybe it's something to consider.

I am like this too and have been since around 15. Thankfully the Mirena IUD has eliminated my periods for the last 3.5 years. I am a new person on it.
I have PCOS and fibroids.

My 14 year old started her period just about a year ago. She often goes two months between periods. Sometimes she'll just get spotting after one month and then it stops and the period comes after the second month. My gyn assures me it's normal and will sort itself out.

Not a perv or a troll, just someone who remembers being that ag and in wing kid who were sexually active. Turning a blind eye does your kids a disservice.

Having a 13 year old take a pregnancy test only because her period is not yet regular does no one a service.

PP said IF she is sexually active.

To OP, sounds normal with the weird spacing. The symptoms are also normal, but I don't know about the "on and off for weeks" aspect - could she have a virus, or IBS or something?

PP again.

You could put her on a continuous dose birth control pill. Most of them are dosed so that she will only have her period 4 times year.

A Depo shot for BC stops periods for most women. I loved it.

My period always involved constipation and then diarrhea. I had moderate cramps. It sucks.

Yes, this is normal. A very young girl does not ovulate every month and it can take a few months or years for her cycle to establish. The nausea and other symptoms are also normal.

My periods were like that when I was her age. It sucked. I would also have periods that would last 6-8 weeks. It was insane. At 16 my mom put me on the pill and it was so much better. Everything became regulated and while I still had PMS, at least it was consistent PMS and I knew when it was coming and when the end was in sight. I'm 43 now and still on the pill to regulate my cycle. I had hoped that hormonally things would change after my kids but nope. In 30 years the pill has come so far. Now I'm on the 3 month pill and I love only getting my cycle for a few days every 3 months.

If your DD just got her period, I'm not sure a dr will start medically regulating yet. You both may just have to wait this out for a year or two and see if her body can adjust on its own.
