Unfortunately power washing is what you end up having to do to make it look nice again along with sealing. Felt like it was a scam and wood would've been better.

No power washer...and none of the chemicals that the home centers sell. It usually contains some amount of bleach which you DO NOT want to use. This is the stuff you want:

And then use the jet setting of a hose. Maybe the lightest setting on a power washer but resist the urge! Having a good deck brush is also key.

We bought a house with a composit deck and aren't sure how to clean it. Our old house had a composite deck that we would power wash but the composite on this new deck has a texture to it and the home inspector told us not to use a power washer. I have tried scrubbing by hand but it still looks so gross. I really want to use a power washer.... Anyone else have a deck with this type of finish and used a power washer successfully? I guess worst case we can test a small area that is normally covered.
