I would get something machine-washable. We got a cool rug from Target that is washable, which came in handy a couple of times.

We got one for our baby's room and it couldn't be vacuumed (too shaggy) so we ended up taking it out. Make sure it can be cleaned easily. Toddlers are messy creatures.

I'd be concerned about dust.

We have a shag area rug in our twins room. It's been fine - we never had any potty or vomit incidents that we weren't able to clean up - our carpet is on a standard rug pad as well. The only issue we've ever had is that band aids are like glue to the longer fibers of the carpet. My kids, who arenow 6, love getting band aids on their wounds which eventually find there way stuck to the rug. I have to cut them out with scissors.

This plus potty draining are the potential drawbacks. That said, we have carpet in there, which is harder to clean!

Yes to the lime green! We got my son a blue shag rug for his "big boy" room when he was 2.5yo. The walls are a bright green, and the curtains are the same blue as the carpet. When he was younger (he's 5 now), the fuzzy rug was one of his fav parts of the room

we are looking for an area rug for our sons room. It has hardwood floors. We previously had any older oriental style rug in there just to have something.

I want to get something soft and fun for the floor. What Do you think about a shag rug?

Any drawbacks?

The walls are blue and the bedding is navy, lime green, brown and white. The floors are walnut. Trim is bright white. What color would you do for the rug? Lime green?

Thanks!
