My kid would love a gift card! He gets to go pick out ANYTHING he wants.

I'd go with Amazon/Target or Barnes and Noble (especially if the kid is a reader - my DS likes being able to buy books since I mostly stick with the library).

Ha! When I read the title of your thread I was going to suggest a Lego store gift card. My 9 yo & his friends play with Legos all the time.

I thought an 8 year old boy would be over legos by 8, but my 12 year old nephew is obsessed. But, his mother is too and that is the reason. Very weird, IMHO, but they like it. They even go to those conventions where people show what they have built. A few steps away from a Star Trek Convention, I fear.

My kids LOVE getting gift cards. No let down at all for my kids. They would absolutely love it. For the poster who said Target is expensive, just price match. Find the cheapest one online, print it out, and at customer service they price match it. Great lesson for the kid also on saving.

Gift cards to Target or (preferably) Amazon are great ideas!


Mine do, too (they are almost 10 and 8). Lets them pick out something they want and if they get a few, they can add them together and buy something more expensive. I have no problem with getting gift cards!

Stuff at Target is so expensive. If you have to give a lame gift card, please make it for at least $20.

I find that a lot of kids LOVE Target gift cards, just because there is so much stuff there they can buy. Toys, sports equipment, character t-shirts, video games, etc.

My almost 10 year old is not over Lego so he would be fine with that. But he would also like a gift card. Target, Amazon, and the local toy store near our house (Child's Play) are popular.

I don't buy gift cards for kid's parties. Is it a kid's birthday party your kid was invited to? We go to the toy store and I have my dd pick out a gift. If you don't know what to get, I think someone will help you with some options. How about a cool water gun? Those are popular for that age group.
