It's 48" so it can seat six. This table would be suitable both for family and guests. You'd want to use placemats, especially with kids.

Go with a glass table to crate the illusion of more space. We had a horrible time finding a small table for our kitchen a few years back but finally stumbled on a perfect one at IKEA.

A pedestal table is fine. Just not that one. If you get a nice looking one with a leaf that can be put in to seat more people, that's ideal when you need your space to be flexible.

OP here: Not my house or table. Got it from a listing that was posted in the Real Estate forum.
We are moving from an apartment into a small house and I am looking for dining table and breakfast table (perhaps one can serve both functions) options.
I see a lot of smaller house having these pedestal type tables and want to know what other options I should explore. I have a toddler so want something easy to maintain.

Agree. That is just awful. There are tons of dining sets out there that look better than this.

Driver's License or Realtor's card on the table?

Is this your only dining room or is it a breakfast room? You should always have seating for at least 6 somewhere. I feel really left out that my in laws don't have a chair for me at their 4 person table.

Looks pretty bad.
Why don't you try a long yet narrow modern table?

Is this the best style? Decor is transitional but more on the modern end of the spectrum. Can you identify this set?
