Wasn't there significant testing irregularities associated with the tests this year? If your child was a part of any of them I would ask to have the results stricken.

"Carry the failure?" If my child failed, I wouldn't even tell her. It doesn't matter (except now maybe she'd get the IEP she needs and the school is refusing).

You don't know for sure what the call was about, but I would assume it is because a score was in the 375-399 range.

If I was given the option for my own DS, I would decline, and I teach 4th grade.

When my child failed a test, the teacher went over all the areas that my child got wrong. I'm not sure if a retest would teach anything by itself, but going over the problems or similar problems and learning from them is helpful.

Your child will be pulled out to retake a test he has already taken. Why put your child in the position of having all his friends know he failed the first time and so has to retake. Not worth it since there's no real benefit to him from retaking the test.

Don't do it. He's only in third grade. Don't put him through this for no good reason (there is absolutely no good reason to do it!). No way.

What does the student get out of the retake? Why would you do this?

It likely means your child failed by a small margin, and thus is eligible for remediation, and an expedited retake. They may be calling to convince you?

"Has" to take? No! You have a choice, parent!

DC has to retake any test that's given where he gets a 2 or lower. Is your school like this? If so, why opt out of the SOL?

Left yesterday from the Asst Principal. I have to assume that means DC failed one or both? We signed the form saying we didn't want DC to retake. DC is 3rd grade, Gen Ed. 3s and 4s on report cards.

This call came after an email last week that we'd get preliminary results the last week of school. So why the call now? Are they that freaked about scores?

Obviously I'll return the call tomorrow, but wildly speculating about this call, when I know we won't retest, is a welcome distraction from actual stressful family issues right now.
