Go to Amazon and Google lunch cube ( sorry I cannot figure out how to get the link from my iPad). Pair it with silicone square muffin holders ( also on Amazon).
One side of the cube has a lid. The other I tend to put a paper towel over to help hold the food in place.
We love this one from Pottery Barn. 2yo DS can open it himself. He's picky about combined food so having 5 sections is really nice. We have 2 so I can put one in the dishwasher and pack the other at night.

Munchkin has a divided container that's easy to open. It has a big section and a small section, and comes with 2 smaller cups with lids. I mostly don't use the extra parts unless I'm doing a dip or something, but I like having the option.
DD, who just turned 3, will be having lunch at her preschool summer camp. Please share your recommendations for lunch containers! Ideally, the container should have the following qualities:
1) An average 3 year old can open it by herself
2) Easy to clean (Big thumbs down to the Laptop Lunch kit with a dozen parts to keep track of and clean.)
3) Has compartments to keep types of food separated (e.g., blueberries separated from cheese cubes)
I don't plan on sending wet foods, so leakproof is not necessary (but, of course, a nice bonus).
Also, not so expensive that it's not a big deal if DD to loses it.
