We did not change any structural items. 5*7 bathroom and one slightly larger.
I'm the 10k poster (not OP). No structural stuff, except maybe a pocket door depending on costs. It sounds like you could have done each of your bathrooms for $11k without upgrades so perhaps my hope for $10k is not impossible!

We are currently going through this and it has been a giant hassle. Regardless of the company you go with, be sure to have an itemized written estimate of absolutely everything you want done, who will be responsible for purchasing and making sure the materials and finishes are on site and correct, and who will supervise the work. Pick a finish date and consider damages or penalties for work that isn't done on time.

I did, five years ago. Wasn't complicated. New vanity, new mirror, new toilet, new floor and wall tiles, new tub. I was happy.
Since every Lowes uses different contractors - I think - YMMV.

I used Home Depot to replace my windows and it was a terrible experience. Although HD has stood behind their guarantee, the contractors were incompetent (think crooked windows) and we continue to have problems. I wouldn't ever use a big box store again to do any sort of remodel.

Big box stores are not known for using cheaper contractors that I'm aware. Products yes, but moderate priced products are fine. Think about a one piece toilet for ease of cleaning, and if installing tile, less seams means less dirty grout even if sealed. Hope someone else weighs in on Lowes/HD.

I have 2 to do so would like to keep costs down!
So I wonder if Lowe's would be cheaper than a general contractor. Also some handyman services say they do bathroom remodeling. I wonder if that is a possibility. I want a moderate upgrade, we don't need high end finishes.

we used http://www.mdhomerepairsllc.com/ to update 5'x8' bathroom before selling and paid $1500 for the labor and around $1000 for the materials (vanity, toilet, lights, fixtures, floor tile, paint). They did everything except of the tub and tile around the tub.

I have two recs! One for the higher end - chesapeake remodeling. I dont remember the exact name, but they are located in tenleytown. We used them for a kitchen and a small (but full) bath. The bath was about 12-15k.
For a "cheaper" and basic remodel, we used capital area construction. We didnt move anything around - just did new tile, sink, toilet, tub, etc. It was 10k total.

We have two bathrooms we'd like to remodel- they aren't large and we're not looking to do anything too crazy, but both will need the plumbing updated and there are a couple minor structural things we'd like to do (e.g., replace a large window with a smaller one). We weren't super happy with who we used for our kitchen remodel a few years ago and are trying to be more thorough in our search this time around. Any recommendations would be welcome! We're in MoCo.
