My daughter did American University reading camp. It was pretty good.

NP here. I called the number and the person was a bit pushy. It is actually a nationwide program called the Institute of Reading Development. They partner with local colleges but it doesn't sound like there is much to that partnerships. They hire teachers and provide them with extensive training in their program. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this program to share? It could be awesome despite their sales techniques.


My neighbor did it with her 2nd grader, and she loved it. I wanted to try it with my 7th grader, but they don't have evening/weekend classes for his age .

Are you concerned that your child is below grade level? Lab and McLean have camps.

Shoot, they just sent home a flyer (in my daughter's Arlington elementary) for a reading summer camp. I'll try to find it and post the info. We already have our camps locked down so I didn't need it.

I live in Baltimore and attended Loyola. I've heard good things about this program:

It looks like they might have programs in Chevy Chase and DC.

Can anyone recommend a reading camp for my 1st grade DS. We love in Arlington but will drive as far as Bethesda and in and around VA.
