I agree with this. We had a pane of glass come out of the frame. I called a window repair company and it would take ten days for them to look at it, for which a $250 fee would be charged (deductible from any work that would be done).
I looked up the company (which had a number of DCUM mentions) and the Yelp reviews were not good--all of the posters had the same experience of waiting weeks for the work to be done after they came out--not ideal for summer.
We're in an apartment so I asked the building manager who referred me to a handyman. He looked at it last night (right after I called him) and this morning he took out the window, repointed, fixed the sashes and put the pane back in. Done--for $250.
