I don't feel like mine does much to clean my floors. I wasn't impressed.

Which one do you use?

I just use a Clorox Readi Mop on my hardwoods. It's not a steam mop. You fill the container on the handle with your hardwood floor cleaner and spritz it while you mop. Works fine.

LOVE my steam mop. I bought a shark off of Craigslist, it was new but damaged box, I don't even know what model it is. I think I paid like $60. Makes mopping so much easier. It came with both reusable pads and also disposable pads - I prefer the disposable because I am lazy.

I am also too lazy to use distilled water (what a pain?! I don't like keeping much on hand), so for me, buying cheap and being prepared to replace in a few years is the way to go.

I add a couple of drops of essential oil on the pads before mopping, because I do like my house to be scented after cleaning. No need to do that, but that was the only thing I missed about my old cleaning solution, no scent to the steam.

I looked into one. The best model seemed pricey, so as an interim solution I got a microfiber mop. I got e-cloth, which is a Norwex competitor. It just uses water (I used to use vinegar on the tile kitchen floor and it makes it sticky). It works great, on the tile and the hardwood.

Does anyone have a steam mop that they love? I was using a swiffer wet mop thing, but the smell has been getting to me. I looked up DIY, but the solutions involve vinegar which I have been told can hurt my wood floors. I think it's time to look into steam. What one is worth the money?
