It's gotta be lacrosse. I grew up in Baltimore where lax is king, even more so in the private school world there than in DC. You can spot the lax moms from a mile away.

Don't have lacrosse players BUT what is the deal? I keep hearing this over and over - can someone please enlighten me? We moved from Chicago last year so the lacrosse world is a new one to me but I'm intrigued because I hear so much about it the parents and the kids!
Yet it's also touted as the fastest growing sport?
My 2 sons play golf competitively so it's a very different dynamic than a team.

Depends on the culture of the club...we just switched clubs for my son's travel sport. Old club--parents are complete political douchebag nightmares; new club--set the expectation right off the bat that they don't tolerate assholes and the parents there are much much nicer.

Figure skating.
In figure skating (as far as I can tell), the kids get 1:1 coaching for a few lessons/week and then are basically practicing on their own. For the younger ones, that means the parents are sitting there at every practice doing the coaching/nagging/whatever. Very, very bad dynamic.
At least in gymnastics the kids do their training with coaches.

I am just curious. My son is playing a sport this year that he has never played so its new for us...but I have never seen parents that are so full of themselves,think their kids are greatest, in my life. All the moms are dressed (not all to be fair) extremely well but not necessarily what one thinks of when dressing for a game. The dads all appear to be connected financial types with big egos. I don't want to bash the sport as he is having a ball, and we are so happy to see him having fun but it did get me thinking. My D played tennis so my exposure to competitive sports was limited.
