I live in a house built in 1956 and the hall full bath is in the middle of the house and does not have any windows. So, it is isn't a new phenomenon.

We have non opening tinted frosted glass windows in both bathrooms.

For safety reasons, i would want a window. I would hate to be trapped in that bathroom

Yeah, after that plane accident in MD last year, I think a window in every room is essential.

Our new construction has a bathroom in each bedroom. Only the guest bathroom and the master bathroom have windows. Doesn't bother me or my kids who are in the windowless bathrooms.

I think it's pretty standard in new construction to have windows only in the master bathroom. It makes the layout much easier. In terms of putting on make-up in a bathroom without natural light, I see your point. But I think most buyers will be OK with it.

I'd say location and layout is more important than an absence of a windows. We used to have one in each bath in our former house, and while they did provide natural light, they also either faced neighbors (i.e. required somekindof covering) or where the source of cold air during winters.

This is fine for a town house, but not for a SFH. Maybe a powder room without a window is ok, but otherwise, it is just weird and depressing.

I never really thought about it, but two of our bathrooms and our powder rooms don't have windows. I guess it's just the way the plumbing works as those bathrooms backup to each other and are on the inside of the house.

Not a big deal at all. I don't spend a lot of time in the bathroom so I don't care if there is a window in it or not.

Tough not to have it in a townhouse.

I don't like any rooms without windows, but I've never been in the market for new construction. If it is the norm there, I don't know how picky I could be about it, and so I'd assume it doesn't affect resale too much.

I noticed that a lot of floor plans call for bathrooms without windows (except the master bathroom). The builders advise that it is pretty typical in new construction for the bathrooms not to have windows. They said that, in older houses, bathrooms always had windows for ventilation. Newer houses have better ventilation and so a window is not necessary.

I like windows in the bathroom because it is easier to see if I have out on my makeup properly. But I can live without them.

Does anyone think it is bad for resale to have windows only in the master bathroom?
