Yes. We have the same job title (RN) and I have no authority over them. Is their lifestyle generally a bit different than mine? Yes. But I still have a great time with them when we grab drinks after work. I really suspect it's your self consciousness regarding the job title that's coming into play here. 28 and 25 are not that different.

When I was 28 I was married and had a baby and the people who were 23 were not interested in talking to me.
People who are 23 and can't talk to someone who is 28 are immature. Some will mature and some will not that much, just like people at all other ages. Give it some time. That said, I agree with the PP. Work is not the best place to make friends. You might find friends there, but be happy when you do and don't expect it. They mostly disappear when you switch jobs, anyway. I do have friends I made at work, but there aren't many of them.

Find your social circle elsewhere. In a couple years many of those people are going to have moved on to other jobs anyway.

I switched careers in my 40s, resulting in my being a good 20 years younger than most of my coworkers. Maybe the difference is that I don't look to them for a social life? At work we all get along and enjoy each other's company.

I'm 55 yrs old and admin assistant is 24. The entire staff is under 40. They are faster on the keyboard but I know the industry. This helps some days but on other days it's a pretty miserable environment for me and them.
