Ha! What teacher has the money for a long vacation?
My husband and I are both teachers, and we're heading to Europe this summer with the kids.
No, we're not millionaires, but we're not idiots with our money either.
Thanks for making a sweeping generalization.
You must have many years of experience in a high paying school district then. I can barely afford my bills some months.

Then because of AP tests, there has been no instruction for 2 weeks. Now my child has a teacher who gives out worksheets to the class EVERYDAY and tells them to help each other while he is on his computer. He has stopped teaching. What is going on in MCPS?
1. PARCC testing
2. AP testing
3. A teacher who is not doing what you consider teaching
Why do you generalize from your child's experience to all of MCPS?
If this is only one high school, then how can this stuff go on? The principal has been there for decades and this is how she runs a school? It seems that the principal has carte blanche and the kids are just taking up space for the next 3 weeks. That is an MCPS problem.
For parents of high school students - are your students being taught or are my kids at the terrible outlier school?

Yes, kids are expected to show up and sometimes have a final project, but basically the school year is over for them in May. After next week my 11th grader will only have instruction in three classes. Even teachers in the music programs stop teaching after the final concerts which happen in late April-mid May. Pretty ridiculous and a waste of time.
