I adore my primary physician and could see being friends but it's not a boundary that makes sense to cross. Save it for when your kids are done with that school

You are new here. Perhaps, you have always lived in NYC and have a wide group of friends. You WILL make friends--but sometimes, it takes a little time.

Most people I have met are moms and they are usually SAHMs who seem like they rarely go out sans kids or working moms who are too busy for anything for themselves.
How old are your kids, and where do you live? Happy to give suggestions on where you can meet moms!
My kids are 3 and 5 and we live in NVA. I have one child in preschool and another in elementary school.
I think the easiest thing is to talk offline. I'm logging in here so you can private message me. I can definitely connect you with some moms that I think you will have more in common with (though I know more people in DC than NoVa, as I'm in DC).

OP here. I see the principal pretty frequently at school, about once a month or so. I am very active in the PTA. I just thought it would be nice to get a mani/pedi or catch a movie after drinks.

Have you ever become personal friends with any parents? No for the reason I stated above.
We won't stay at this school forever.
Would it be less inappropriate if my child no longer attends her school?

I'm sure the principal may enjoy her school friendship with you--but there is a difference. Say, your son gets in a fight with another child--it would make it uncomfortable for everyone concerned.

It wouldn't be strange. It's just not appropriate. I really enjoy spending time and working on projects with parents from my school. There are many interesting people, and I connect with them on many levels. But I have to keep a professional relationship because their child's needs always have to come first.
