Following steps:

1) Turn off the power to your house at your fuse box.
2) Purchase the item below, or take it out of your Zombie apocalypse supplies.



3) Remove the offending lock and/or thing from your wall.

4) Disconnect wires and throw out any remaining metal boxes that 'chirp'

Or just call an electrician or handyman to do steps 1-4 for you for a fee.

File a complaint with the Attorney General. That might get a response.

Yes, ADT refused to put us through to their cancellation department when we sold our house. We were literally not living in the house and I suppose had no right to have access to the alarm (I mean, all the passwords to disable, etc.) plus the privilege to continue paying for it. There is something so wrong about alarm systems and the way they are transferred or not to different owners.

I thought Slomin's went out of business? What number are you calling OP? We are in the same boat as you, except ours just chirps when the doors open. I have no idea how to set the alarm and when I have called it seems they are no longer in business.

Our battery was in the front hall closet, buried behind the coats.

lol. I'm sorry OP. FWIW, I feel your pain. I had ADT and it just chirped randomly after power outages and ADT never fixed it even when we WERE paying them. It was horrible

Our panel is in the basement. It has a lock on it.

There should be a battery backup hidden in a closet or somewhere in your house. If you disconnect the battery that may help.

The previous owners of our home (or maybe the people before them) had a Slomin's security system hardwired in the house. We do not subscribe to Slomin's. But whenever we lose power or on random other occasions, the alarm goes off or will chirp incessantly. We have no clue how to turn it off, we just press buttons over and over and over again and till something turns it off. We've tried calling Slomin's and they refuse to assist because we are not subscribers, which I think is pretty shitty, and I can guarantee you we will now never be subscribers. Has anyone else dealt with this? Or does anyone have Slomin's and know what the secret is to turning the damn thing off?
