I worked in drug rehab a few years ago, coke sucks. It very rarely is recreational.
It goes from recreational to a problem very, very quickly.
And original PP: be glad you're not around anyone who you know does coke. It's a very ugly drug. And more common than you might think.

It's hard to believe in this day and age, especially if you have not entered into parenthood yet, but there are fathers who pretty much keep on living the same pre-baby lifestyle and let their wives do it all. Even if their wives have full-time jobs. Even if their wives were formerly feminists. It's just an intractable thing called being the "default parent," where the mother does it all, or almost all.
Doing coke all night is an extreme variant of the default parent, to be sure. But there are plenty of men who work late for no reason, take lots of time for their own hobbies or socialization, or just to sleep in, while their wives shoulder a greater share of the burden.

I know a C-level guy who does this. His wife is scared for him but won't leave her C-level lifestyle.
I don't know that they have any resolution, but if she called him on it, I suspect he would still do it but go more under ground with it.
I don't go out with people who do drugs. If that's their scene, it doesn't last long for me.

If a man is leaving his family to go off and snort some white stuff through his nostrils, then yes, this is a problem.
And any woman who would stay with someone who did this is just plain stupid.

It is a problem bcs obviously it doesn't work for you...and it is also your business because your child's father does drugs recreationally.

I just don't get it. I have never done coke. But sometimes I am hanging out with colleagues who are drinking heavily and jump from alcohol to cigarettes to pot or cocaine. (I leave before thos, but know the signs ...giddiness, secretive etc as they head off to get high) The next morning they have to get up and go to work, and do so. But I can't help but feel like that is a raw deal for wives, who are staying in with kids while their husbands do this foolishness. It's none of my business and I am not about to get involved, but I just feel bad. Is it a problem, or not really.
