We are doing TAG middle and high (already at Glenarden), unless that doesn't work and then we'll go private. Figure we can afford it with the savings on the house.

We live in the Arts District and plan to do Hyattsville Elementary and then private for middle and high school.

We moved from UP, it just wasn't worth the games trying to get quality education for our 3.

To the PP: do you have a child at Hyattsville middle school? I ask because i would love to hear some good reviews of the school. Unfortunately I've only heard bad reports from families that I know with kids there.

hyattsville middle is okay. however, high school can be a problem if your kid can not test into a special school

My kids were selected into lottery options but I have lots of friends who send their kids to the local middle and while it's a bit chaotic, they're doing just fine.

PG public school specialty programs for middle and high school. If they don't work out, then Catholic schools.

We live nearby and the plan is definitely private for middle school. We're banking the savings from our home being less expensive.

We really like the the University Park, Hyattsville, Calvert Hills area and are considering moving soon. The local elementary school seems good (University Park) but our concern is uncertainty about what to do once the children are middle-school aged, given that the locally zoned middle school does not seem to fare well. This would be our first home so nervous about knowingly purchasing in an area where middle school is not an option and then having to uproot family in another 5-6 years for better middle & high school options. Similarly nervous about leaving it all to a lottery.

For local parents with elementary-aged children, where do you send you kids to school? What are your middle school plans? Did you have concerns, too? We really love the area, its diversity (economic and socio), character, proximity to DC, transit options, so want to make this happen but uncertainty re. middle is making us second guess.

Thank you!
