Wow. What a complete straw man. I am suggesting that appreciation weeks for both ARE a good thing. But that for those who care about education, it would be good to have the weeks at separate times. Doing them at the same time takes away from the other. Is this a huge deal? No. It is a very minor thing, and I have not ever in this thread said or suggested otherwise. That doesn't make the point less valid.



The original question spoke about charters stealing limelight from teachers-that is not a passive thing-I think that is what everyone finds so ridiculous. Because it is.

RE the original question-no it is not weird.

Lots of weeks, days and months coincide-for example April is both Math and Poetry month. While there is math in poetry and "poetry" in math, having them the same month is a bit inconvenient for learners and teachers that may want to zero in and spotlight on one or the other that month.

OP, if that is the WORST thing you can say about your child's school experience, that two arbitrary weeks that involve schools happen to coincide, then you are in good shape.


It is not the worst thing I could say, but that doesn't invalidate the observation. If we took your point to its logical conclusion, we couldn't complain about anything but the worst things to happen in this world.

OMG, you are beyond ridiculous-when there's not a conspiracy, we must create one I suppose...actually, its charter school week because it is the anniversary of the first charter school established, so if anyone is "stealing the limelight," it is teachers, right-I suppose charter school teachers are stealing their own limelight, though..beyond ridiculous..

Nothing against having a Charter School week, but it seems a little like stealing the limelight of teacher appreciation week. Would have thought it better to have them on two different weeks, and focus on teachers and other staff this week. They deserve a lot of appreciation!
