Ooh, really? Thanks for that. I haven't seen that before.

I actually saw one application that specifically said "you must include a number here; omitting it or providing a false answer like $1 will disqualify you." So if you did it, you obviously wouldn't be the first to try! But it probably won't help. Totally sucks. I don't understand why new salary should be contingent on past salary.

OP here. The salary question is a field that requires a number, so I can't put negotiable. It asks the starting and ending salary for each position I've held, starting with the most current and going backward. I don't want to give any salary details - current or historic - as it compromises my ability to negotiate a salary should I be lucky enough to get that far. It can also be a way to screen me out and not get past the first round.

So the question is what would you enter on the form? I was thinking of putting something like $1 or $100 so I can move forward on the form but it's also clear it's not an actual salary.

I'm not following. You answer the questions truthfully. If they ask for your salary history, enter the correct information. Most applications include a disclaimer that if you lie or provide false information you can be terminated from employment.

In terms of contacting supervisors, I answer yes for past supervisors and no for current.

I always write "negotiable" and let them toss out the first number.

I'm applying for a senior level job at an organization that requires an electronic employment form to be completed upon application. What do you put down for salary (starting and ending), supervisor's contact details and whether they can contact him/her, etc? I am inclined to put 100 for salary but is that rude?
