I put in some snap pea plants last week, time will tell

2) Want to try strawberries. Should we plant from seeds or plants?
Plants. Much quicker.

3) Cucumbers and carrots okay to plant now?

Carrots okay, hold off on the cucumbers/peppers/squash/tomatoes for at least another week

It's early for tomatoes and peppers, both love/need warm temp. I am def. waiting till May 15, on the other hand my strawberries plants are loving the cool weather.

Look at the 10 days forecast and next week it warms up. So after Saturday good to go!

I have always waited until after mothers day to plant tomatoes, squash and peppers. 2 weeks ago, I put chard, cilantro and strawberries into the ground.

Exactly. You won't get a larger or necessarily an earlier crop by planting early.

We're in DC proper and put our tomato and bell pepper seedlings in the ground on Sunday. I think they'll be fine.

If cold at night, either tent the plants with a plastic grocery bag, or a gallon milk bottle.

Huh. Surprised to see people so reluctant to plant. Granted I'm in an inner suburb (Alexandria) and we don't get as cold as some of you that live further north/west, but I just checked the 10 day forcast, and the lowest low is 51 on Friday. After that, highs in 80s and lows in 60s, sometime upper 50s.
My tomatoes are already in the ground. I wouldn't say they are flourishing, but they aren't looking worse for wear. I do think its going to take longer this year due to the lower-than-average temps, but I think it will be okay.

temperatures are supposed to be below average, possibly for the entire summer...I'd wait until mid May at least.

We had overnight temps in the 30s just last week. I'm waiting two more weeks.

I wanted to get some tomatoes, peppers, and squash in the ground this weekend, but the Post insert today said that I should wait until the second week of May. Is it worth the risk? I'm going to buy starters (not from seed), if that makes a difference.
