We have tile that looks like this in our bathroom:
The tile covers the floor up to chair rail height everywhere except the shower, which is fully tiled. It has light gray grout. I hate the tile, but we aren't going to be demoing the bathroom anytime soon. We have light and medium grays and white trim with acents of turquoise, coral, and even green in other parts of the house. The walls are a dingy looking gray/creamy offwhite right now, with a white(ish) ceiling. Bath is pretty small, with an updated larger vanity in espresso finish and a white counter top. I want a more modern/contemporary look, but this tile is really holding me back. What color would you do, and what accents/accessories would you include? My towels are older so I'd be open to buying new ones. I currently have a solid white waffle shower curtain that I really like. There is one window in the shower which won't get a window treatment because of its location and doesn't impart a ton of light because its frosted/north facing. I have considered just going white with some bright colored towels, but DH isn't sold. I've also considered going with a moody darker gray or even navy in the hopes that it would detract from the tile and be more interesting. Also considered mint green, pale turquoise/aqua, gray like our living room/hallway (very light BM Stonington Gray), and even coral (that's what was there originally)! There is only one 3-light fixture over the vanity but I could possibly add a light when/if I replace the fan. I will probably be using the BM Spa paint (matte finish) and will need to paint the ceiling and the walls.
Please help! Usually Pinterest/Houzz inspire me, but no one is using this ugly tile anymore. I think it's like $.75 a square foot at the HD.
