I realize a lot of people think yellow is awful, so I'm not suggesting that to you (it works very well for the style of our house - old craftsman - and our furniture colors), but I would go with a light warm color of some sort.

Some people like grey though?

Painting something grey intentionally is different than a room looking grey b/c of lack of light. Painting a basement that doesn't get a lot of light grey I don't think would be a good idea in any case.

We did Ivory tusk - a very pale cream/yellow. LOVE IT. Our basement also gets no light.

How will you be using the space? Rec room? What furniture will go in there? What flooring? What type of mood - playful, serene, get drunk?

+1 That's the color we used in our previous den. We loved it, but your post is the first time I've heard it mentioned on this site.

Thanks! Does it look anything like this picture? I realize this pic has a lot of light coming in, which your basement probably doesn't.

NP here. Do you think it could work with a muted bronzy gold sofa?

The basement has windows, but not much natural light. Thanks!
