Go for a leisurely brunch at Caravan in King's Cross. Their coffee is fabulous--get a flat white!

For a restaurant with great views over the London skyline, you might want to try the Duck and Waffle.

It must be experienced at night.

Another good view over London is from The London Eye. Go at dusk as the daylight fades and the lights come on over London.

Try Cinnamon Club for great Indian food in a beautiful setting.

PP again. Definitely check out the Grain Store. For Indian food Dishoom is really good. For tapas I'd recommend either Tendido Cero in South Ken or Morito in Exmouth Market. Kingly Court in Soho is really fun and its very alive and buzzy. For a nice but expensive meal you could go to Bob Bob Ricard or maybe Brasserie Zedel for something cheaper. It all depends on where you'll be staying bc its a big city and getting from place to place is a pain and takes forever.

OP here - thanks for the suggestions so far! My fingers are crossed about the weather - I know it can be iffy!! In terms of food, I'm open to anything but my husband is picky. He'll eat fish and chicken but grew up in a vegetarian family and is allergic to shellfish. We are ok with high end or more casual restaurants but since we're without kids it would be fun to find a place with a trendier vibe (although that said, I don't care for places that are too loud now that I'm approaching my midforties ).

Best time of year to go to London! What sort of food do you like to eat? I can recommend a ton of places to check out. For things to do, the Tate Modern is lovely followed by crossing the Millenium Bridge and then wandering around St. Paul's and the City. On Sunday Brick Lane and Spitalfields are really nice as is Columbia Road Flower Market. Drinks at Selfridges.

You could check out the British Library and go to brunch at the Grain Store and walk west along the Regent's Canal out to Regent's Park. Picnic at primrose Hill. Seriously the list of things to do in London is endless and it is easily the best city in the world.

My H and I have been to London a bunch of times, but the last time we went, the thing I enjoyed the most was hanging out at the Blackfriar Pub. We sat in this little nook, drank some amazing cask ale, and ate delicious food. We'd gone to Tate Modern and then walked across the bridge and it was right there. I think it is in a lot of touristy books, but despite that I thought it was an interesting place to chill.

Also, I don't know if you like soccer (football) but we always try to go to a match when we're in town. We've been to West Ham, Fulham, and Wimbledon...there's also Tottenham, Chelsea, and Arsenal in the London area too. At West Ham we just bought tickets at the gate, which may have not been the best idea...I ended up being the only chick in the section. Had stories to tell though!

My husband and I are spending a weekend in London in late May (escaping without our kids!). We lived in London for a couple of years in the late 90s and have been back pretty frequently since. I've seen most all of the major tourist attraction but would love suggestions of fun / small museums / galleries, favorite fun / lively restaurants and/or bars (maybe with music?), good theater shows, and any other suggestions for a fun weekend. I also love exercise and am planning to check out the London Barry Bootcamp but maybe there are other drop in fitness classes that would be fun? Suggestions / ideas welcome!!!
