No. I don't carry anything. But I run along well-traveled neighborhood streets and a very populated bike trail. I have an emergency contact tag on my shoe in case of a serious emergency. I am pretty old-school--I started running when I was a teen for high school cross-country and there were no gadgets, so I don't use anything other than a GPS watch.

Above PP - also prefer to hold phone vs armbands, or belts. Am going to start exploring wireless ear buds to make this easier.

Yes - use tracking software, music when I want, and since I'm a woman who prefers running on trails vs. sidewalks, I like to know that I have that connection to the world if I injured myself or was otherwise in a position to need help immediately.

I think OP's idea is to turn the phone off and have it in case she needs a pickup.

Yes. Always.

Would never bring a phone with me. Running's disconnect time for me, a ringing/pinging phone would defeat the purpose.

Yes. I don't listen to music. It's for emergencies and I use run keeper to track my pace and distance.

No. I have a Road ID in case I am not conscious. Otherwise there is usually someone around I can ask for help. I don't listen to music and don't wear a belt that would make it easier.

Yes. I've had to call paramedics (and the spouse) for someone injured on the trails. I use a spibelt (with a larger pocket) and the iphone6 fits fine, case and call.

I found a 5S armband at Target for $5. I use my phone for music, a mileage/speed tracking app, and for emergencies.

Op here and this is what I'm afraid of. I don't listen to music when I run.

I do but for podcasts and music. My arm band cost less than 20$ if I recall.

Even if it's just in the neighborhood?
I have an iPhone 5 and am just getting back into running. Not sure how soon I will upgrade to the much larger iPhone 6 so I don't know if I want to invest in a good armband.
