Call the program. You might build to keep them from expiring just by doing something like using them to buy a magazine subscription.

Op here. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm leaning toward Vancouver. Good suggestion about adding to the miles. Unfortunately, today is the last day. I should have asked DCUM sooner!

And this coming from someone that hasn't flown in over 5 years, but I have a lot of miles and don't want to lose them. You can get points from shopping via the airline's website as well.

1. Seattle and/or Portland Oregon
2. San Diego (if you rent a car)
3. Vancouver
4. Montreal

I love Montreal, but you get more bang for your buck using miles to get you to the West Coast than you do going somewhere you could conceivably road trip to.

or buy a gift card or a magazine [as low as 500 points]-dont waste your miles on a trip you might not want.

Third Montreal. This sounds silly but because it's French-speaking, it feels more like you've "gone someplace."

OP how strict is the no car thing? That seems to limit you to cities with good public transit, which aren't always the greatest places to go in August.

I would also say Montreal. Or maybe Seattle if you could get a direct flight. Which airline is it?

I second Montreal, it is lovely in the summer.

So we've already extended the miles once. I'm trying to come up with a location where I don't need a car to get around, lots of things to do, good for a 4 day trip, and the weather is nice in August. Has to be in the U.S.(not Alaska or Hawaii) or Canada. It would be with DH. We've already been to Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, NYC, Tampa, and Newport RI on vacations.
