When they were forming their band in college, they named it after two guys on their dorm hallway--one they called Hootie, and the other they called the Blowfish. It's the name of the band, not the guys in the band.

His name's not Hootie. And he's been country for a while now.

I loved something he said in an interview. He used to tell his son that he could be anything he wanted in America, except for President or a country music artist. Now neither one is true.

I like the OCMS version better.
To be precise, it was an unfinished Bob Dylan song. OCMS wrote the last verse and recorded it.
