If you do a liver cleanse to flush out the toxins, you'll be okay.

Followed by a mercury enema.

I'm the PP who is sensitive to artificial flavors and colors and dyes and I only eat the brown ones.

"Are eating M&Ms bad?"

As opposed to the non-eating ones?

Oh, good, I've never liked Red Velvet cake. Who knew I was being so healthy by choosing good old chocolate or vanilla cake instead?

If you think the ingredients are good for you, go ahead and eat them.

M&Ms are only bad when you eat them for breakfast. The blue ones taste the best.

I'm pretty anti-dye, but I don't think the occasional M & M is going to hurt most kids. There's pretty good research that indicates a minority of kids have an extreme sensitivity to Red 40 (might also be true for Yellow Lake, but less research on this), and for those kids even small amounts can lead to disastrous behavioural problems. I think if your kid was in that boat, you'd know it. Other than those kids, the research is sort of inconclusive about whether there are neurological problems that are caused or exacerbated by food dyes (red 40 is the most often targeted, with yellow lake coming in next). I'm not going to turn my life upside down to eradicate all dyes, but I do find it a little disturbing how accepting most Americans are of how much artificial dye they are giving their kids, for no reason. (Most of these dyes are banned in Europe.) I usually choose a Hershey's kiss or mini-Snickers over M&M's for this reason, and I buy the dye-free medicine and toothpaste.

I'm generally freaked out by the Red Velvet cakes (it takes a LOT of red to get it that color), or those bright red Elmo birthday cakes.

For those that care, the natural food dye for yellow is a really nice shade of yellow.

Well there's certainly no nutritional value in them. They sure have a lot of sugar in them.

I am sensitive to dyes, artificial flavors and colors, etc. so I would not eat M&Ms, Reeses Pieces, icing on cakes, etc. Yellow #5 is especially bad. It's banned in some countries.

My sister has been going on and on about the artificial shell colors, especially the yellow. How dangerous? Really?
