I was blonde as a child and now more a washed out ash brown. Husband medium/dark brown. Our son was born with brown hair. It later turned white blond, around 18 months. He is now 4 and its turned into a darker blond. So yes, it can change!

It is most likely (if not definite) that your baby will be blond like his parents. One of my kids had his hair change from brown to blond around the time of his first birthday. It never really fell out the way it does in some babies. My other kid had his brown hair fall out a few months after he was born and then it grew in platinum blond. My youngest child was born bald and his hair grew in dark brown (just like DH and me). My youngest also had gray eyes until he was 16-months-old when they turned dark brown like mine. The other two have green-gray eyes like their dad.

I was a towhead as a young child until I was 5-6 and H had yellow blonde hair until he was 8 or so. Our baby was born with sandy brown hair (very little) and it fell out and gave her the Mr. Clean look until she was over 1. Came back in dark blonde and has stayed that way.

Her eyes are still a mystery. They were grayish/blue at birth then by 6 months were bright green and now switch between hazel and green depending on what she wears. Both H and I have green eyes.

No one recognizes baby pictures of now-Scandanavian-blonde DD because she was born with brown hair. Turned blonde at about 9 months.

My son's eyes are also a weird non-color that we call hazel for lack of any better term. DH has brown eyes, as does his whole family. I have green eyes and most of my family on both sides has green or blue eyes, with a few light hazels and browns thrown in. When he was born, DS's eyes were dark, but not brown (and not blue either despite everyone telling me that all white babies are born with blue eyes). They gradually lightened a bit and I thought they were going to be green like mine. But then they just stayed at this weird dark color that is definitely not brown, but isn't really anything else. If you put him in certain colors his eyes look green; otherwise they are just kind of there. So we did some googling and decided on dark hazel. He's almost 17 months and they haven't changed at all since about 6 months so I think this is his permanent color. It's pretty but people are always saying "what color are his eyes?" and then they look at go "hmmm. huh."

Re: hair, DS was born with very dark hair that has lightened over time to medium brown, but never fell out. I read that usually when the hair falls out and grows back, it comes in lighter. And that if it doesn't fall out, it's the permanent hair. That seems to have been the case with DS. His hair is already the shade mine is as an adult (mine was reddish-blond at his age and changed to brown by kindergarten) so I think he is going to be very dark-haired when he grows up, like my husband's family.

It's funny how much variation there can be. I studied abroad in Japan during college and remember discussing this with my host family. To me it was normal that hair and even eye color should change as a child gets older, but they were astonished and had never heard of such a thing! They thought I was making it up.

Tow-headed

My baby was born with relatively subtle red hair and light blue eyes. My husband and I both have very dark brown hair and brown eyes. Two years later, nothing has really changed. We get tons of weird comments/ jokes from strangers about the milk man. I really like her surprise coloring.

What's the texture of your son's hair? Blonde hair is generally very fine, very tiny, but there is LOTS of it. Many hair follicles. So maybe you could tell a bit more from that.

Interesting that your son's hair was jet black and then came in blond! Kind of strange that that happens. I didn't know that most European babies were born with blue eyes, though I had heard a lot of babies' eye color changes by 6-9 months. I guess our baby's eye color could be described as hazel, since it's got so many different colors in it? Good point about the texture of his hair. I hadn't thought of that but you are right that we both have very fine hair and a lot of it! my son also has very fine hair...we shall see!

Yes, we are both naturally blonde. I know it's quite rare! My hair was very light as a child/from birth and is now a darker, sandy blonde. My husband's hair was almost white from birth and is now dark blonde. We both have Scandinavian ancestry

My husband and I are both very blonde but our baby was born with dark brown hair that is now kind of a reddish brown at 6 months. I think his hair's beautiful the way it is but I'm just wondering if it is likely to change to blonde at some point? Did your baby's hair change color after 6 months? What about eye color? My eyes are brown and my husband's are blue and our baby's eyes are sort of blue and brown and green and gray all mixed together!
