That is super expensive!

Quality always is

Actually you don't know the quality of the wood. You are much better off buying it. Most Hardware Stores who sell wood will do 1-2 basic cuts for you for free. Then, you just screw them together with deck or other waterproof screws. Simple. Takes just as much time to put together as those except you can do it cheaper and custom sizes.

Smoot lumber in Alexandria has untreated cedar.

The paint peels off and goes into the beds. We painted ours and they still rotted.

Actually it's the science. Pressure treated wood has tons of chemicals which leech into the soil, it is never recommended for veggie beds. OP: Please use cedar/western red cedar for veggie beds. You can order cedar beds online or make your own ( they are quite easy). Lowes carries cedar in 1 inch width, which is less than ideal but it will do.

What makes you concerned about the chemicals? Science? Or just fear, because?

Yeah, I used the pressure treated ones for my raised beds.

Be careful with regular wood. We did our first ones that way and they rotted between watering and the rain and we got a set of termites or something. We switched to the PVC board at Home Depot and it was much better.

I would like to build a couple of raised beds to grow herbs and some vegetables, and I would like to use untreated wood (I am concerned about chemicals in the pressured treated wood). where can I find it? if you have BTDT, please let me know. thanks
