My kid takes the bus from Glover Park (D6, not a 30) and they don't get up before 7am. School starts at 8:45, and the bus takes about 30 minutes.

OP: Oh, I did not know about this. This is good info to have! It's parent organized but not parent driven (not a carpool)? What time do the kids come home?


Parents charter a van or mini bus. Kids board the vehicle when school is out. Been doing it for 2 years.

We work downtown but bit really near Gallery Place.


If your alternative is Hardy, it's an easy choice: go to Basis. People here will tell you that Hardy is up and coming blah blah blah, go visit the school and you'll see yourself what the reality is.

OP: Yes I know where it is. GP is not on the metro. And I don't generally drive down there at that time of day. My office is on the other side of downtown.

If you are in Glover Park you can join the parent-organized vanpool that transports a bunch of BASIS kids to and from school every day. There is a monthly fee.

Doesn't the 30 bus go right by Archives? That's where we take our bus to. DC One pass is free for bus transit for BASIS and any other DCPCS kids.

It's an easy commute-the D6 also goes right by both Hardy and Basis and there is a van that a lot of Glover Park kids use if you prefer and don't mind the $. Bus is also free for DCPS and DCPCS kids.

But Glover Park isn't near the red line. I would just ride one of the 30 buses.

Commute very doable. Some communities have a bus (like Palisades) which the younger kids take. Other kids take the city bus. I really love having my kids close by work. It is much easier if they decide to stay late. Also many after school activities and clubs.
