St. Anselms for academics only.

Gonzaga or DeMatha for athletics

Gonzaga is just as strong as prep for academics. Both are Jesuit schools.

Gonzaga is NOT as strong as St. Anselm's. St. Anselm's is the most rigorous private in DC, including St. Alban's.

I don't think anyone was claiming that. Poster was comparing GZ to GP. Nobody is saying anything about comparing it to St Anselms. I agree St. Anselm's is known for its outstanding academics. No argument there.

Dematha is the best sports school in the COUNTRY. I think it wins.

You are stuck in the 80's.

Though Damatha does have the best arts program. They have great athletics too... The best in the country??? I don't think so.

St Anselms for academics. Dematha for sports. GZ for both with SJC a close second and a good alternative as its coed.

Hoping to preempt another malicious string of comments. OP, there are lots of threads on this issue so you should take a look. Ultimately, it is not an issue of which is the "best" but which is the "best fit" for your son. Future posters, can we all please try to keep a civil tongue here? These are all goods schools and while healthy rivalry can build spirit, petty mean comments about another school can degrade the school you are supposedly trying to support. Let's remember we are all God's children and we all want a good education and healthy environment for our boys.

None get as many kids into top colleges as the elite privates. But of your list, I would say GP.
