We went with square white ceramic tiles, set on the diagonal (diamond pattern), with a dark colored grout (in our case, brown). Easy to clean. Agree with PPs that the grout is what shows the dirt. Dark -- no problem.

White tiles in bathroom are an awful idea. Shows every single blessed hair that falls out of my head.

So I've been looking at hex tiles recently and read that gloss hex tiles are easier to keep clean. I see you went with matte finish.

For what I'm thinking of, matte would probably offer a better look, but I am wary about the cleaning aspect.

What's your experience been? What were your reasons for choosing matte over gloss and do you regret not going for the gloss?

Ours are actually gloss, it wasn't that specific item from Home Depot, I just posted that to show the style. However, the bathroom this is in is rarely used so cleaning isn't an issue either way.

Trickiest part is the grout not the tiles.

We did a similar tile from Home Depot. Super cheap, but durable and looks great. We also used a gray grout to help hide the dirt. Only thing with Home Depot is to really check each sheet of tile. Some on the shelf are missing pieces or chipped. So take a minute to just check each one out.

+1 on hex or penny tiles. Pick a gray grout and its super easy to keep clean.
