Please no. I agree that we shouldn't clutter up the top with more stickies. It just makes peoples' eyes glaze over and they'll ignore all stickies. Leave that for something important.

If OP feels so strongly, she can do the work herself. Create a thread called "Classics" and post your favorites there. When you find a new thread that you consider a classic, go back, search for your thread and add it. Voila! It will go back up to the top of the recent topics and everyone can browse the old classics to their hearts content. Or they can search for the classics thread when they want.

Stop making more work for Jeff and do it yourself.

Yes, they will. Somebody will mention it, other posters will LOL and next thing you know you're on a roll with bobcat hunting jokes on a thread about how best to prune a Forsythia shrub. Then several posters will respond with "WTF, can somebody please fill me in on this bobcat joke? Link please." And there you go. I know for sure I've read posts that are over a year old because of this phenomenon.

But I think that's good enough. I don't think we need stickies either.

Or someone will reference Chipotle Lady (where is she, anyway?) or ask about burgundy washcloths. Off to the races.

+1 don't make things more complicated

How is a link and a sticky complicated?

This is a community, with a history to it. There is no reason not to have a place where some of the greatest hits are archived or stickied. Maybe in a separate forum to keep the other forums decluttered.

Do you really want to archive the snark, the meanness, the negativity that's present in almost every thread? Agree with Steele about navel gazing. Navel gazing mean girls.

I don't like the idea. Part of what makes the threads so good is the fact that everyone is experiencing them at the same time. No one is going to read the bobcat thread a year from now.

What would be the criteria for something to be a "classic?" Would it need to reach a certain number of posts, or views, or be active for a certain number of days?

I think this idea was suggested previously, but I don't remember how I responded. However, at the moment, I"m not really feeling the idea. I get a bit tired of the navel gazing to tell you the truth. But, maybe it's just my mood at the moment and I'll feel differently after a while. I'd love to hear what other think.

Maybe a r/o thread for everyone but the admin.

This past week, we had one that may be the all-time classic...a sticky link would be awesome. How many times to we talk about classics...
