Why do people -especially americans- always suggest therapy for everything? In a lot of countries therapy is unheard of yet they seem happiest of all.

I met DH on OkCupid. DH is super shy. Online dating allows you to take things at your own speed. Just don't let the sheer number of jerks surprise you. Just wade through the idiots and you'll find some great guys out there.

I was in your shoes over a decade ago. I wound up meeting my husband off the internet, along with a few other people at the same time. Work is another option but I wasn't comfortable dating someone at work because I wanted to keep business and pleasure separate. The thing is, men don't seek out women as much if they do not put out the signals by showing an interest or flirting. So your selection might be reduced by being shy.

I don't think you need therapy because you're shy and don't pursue men. Simply sign up for match and try to meet men. It is a numbers game. Be friendly and think of it as trying to make friends.

If you are good looking men are always gonna check you out and flirt with you. It's nothing you are doing to make them do that. You just need to learn to tactfully shut that down if you arent interested in the guy.
Meetup groups. If you are too shy to go alone, bring a friend.

It's hard to meet guys for me because I have always been awkwardly shy around them but it's only because when I start conversations with guys there immediately develops a sexual tension between us and they assume my being friendly means I want them then they start being flirty and checking body so I can never make friends easily with men.
