My DD has three dresses she wears to bar/bat mitzvahs - a more formal, conservative one for the temple, and one wintery fun dress and one more summery/spring lighter dress. The kids are not famous actors where they're supposed to wear a different dress to each event. Some of the girls switch with each other if they're the same size.

So...about $100 a dress?

Thanks for the suggestions! Now I just have to find time in her busy schedule to go shopping. I can't even predict what she might like these days, so she has to come along.

Lord & Taylor always has a nice dress selection. Online look at JCrew, Boden, Nordstrom.

Are you looking for two different dresses? My 12 yr old is about the size of a skinny 9 or 10 yr old, so I hear you on not looking too cute.

Macys, Forever 21, Gap are all possibilities. Nordstrom Rack might be worth checking out. In the last year or so we've really started having good luck at Macys.

My 12 year old daughter will be attending her first bat mitzvah and she needs to find a dress for the service and the party that night. She's asked friends where to shop, but most of her friends have already started to develop and can wear clothes with busts and waists. My daughter is still completely undeveloped and these types of dresses don't work for her. Any ideas? She doesn't want to show up looking like an 8 year old.
