No pedicure. I hate seeing folks feet in general.

Way back in the 90's I wore French tip acrylics I only lasted a few months. I have nice nails without all that hassle.

I've never had one. I'm 47. I don't use nail polish, I don't want to spend the money, and I don't want somebody else messing with my hands and feet. I've also never had a facial.

I'm 30, never had one. I can paint my own nails at home for $6 per bottle of nail polish.

My first manicure was for a cousin's wedding when I was in my mid-20s and a few years later I got a pedicure. I don't do either regularly. For me, manicures are only something I do for a special occasion. I think they are generally a waste of money for me because I'm rough on my hands and the polish chips so quickly. I get pedicures a couple of times during late slurring/summer to make my feet look nicer in sandals.

I am mid-50’s. Have had TWO manicures in my life (only because they were “gifts”) and never had a pedi.
I don’t quite understand the allure of these.
I don’t find a manicure relaxing and I would much rather spend my time doing something a little more productive.

I'm late 30s and have never had a proper pedicure or manicure. I don't think the tools are clean enough to let someone soak and cut/shave my nails and skin. I do that before I go in there. I do get my nails painted and sometimes acrylic/fill and paint. My nails are too thin to grow. They have been thin since I was a child. If I want nails that are shaped or strong, I have to pay for it.

I'm 40 and have never had one.

Mid-thirties female. I've always been no-fuss and a bit tomboyish. Had manicure 2x ever--once for junior prom and once for my wedding. I may've also had a pedicure for my wedding but I don't remember.

I'm 37 and never had one. I don't understand how people find them relaxing and as a pampering feature. I am too freaked out about dirty files, scissors, warm water baths, fungus, etc. and, oddly, I'm not normally a germaphobe, but for some reason pedi and mani instill the fear of germs and infection in me.

I keep my nails cleaned and trimmed on my own. I don't paint them though. A no-fuss type of girl I guess.

I'll add to it I've never had a massage or facial either. That's more of an affordability thing though.

Is this an American thing?

I'm a 35 year old European, and regular manis and pedis are not usual where I come from.
I've never had my nails done professionally because I don't relish the thought of all these toxic chemicals, and I am blessed with healthy, well-shaped nails. No need to have anything done to them beyond cleaning and trimming. I rarely polish them - they look best in their rosy natural state.

(Sorry for sounding insufferably smug!)

I'm 38 and have probably had a dozen in my life, and my first one was around your age.

I started getting mani/pedis at 12, kept them up weekly until I had a baby at 27 and since then I just go for a pedi every couple of weeks and do my own mani. With clear polish.

I was 31 when I got my first pedicure. Best one I ever had, too.

Hmm, I was probably close to that age when I got my first mani/pedi. I generally only have them done once or twice a year.

I don't think my mom has ever had one in her life.

I mean, by professionals?

I've always kept my nails trimmed myself, and never felt the need to go and get them done by a professional. I didn't like the idea of someone else touching my feet and wasn't willing to pay the price.

I passed by a nail salon, and suddenly felt interested. Ended up getting just a pedicure, and it was actually enjoyable...if not awkward for me at first.

The nail technician was shocked I had never had a pedicure before "at my age" (I'm 26).

I know many women who get them done weekly, but it didn't seem that common.
