Since she's a beginner, presumably you're looking for a house/recreational soccer program. VYS, McLean or Arlington would be very good choices depending on where you're located. We've been happy with Arlington Soccer Association so far, but we're still in rec league. I have friends with kids in developmental and travel leagues and they seem to like it. Soccer is a pretty big deal around here, no matter the jurisdiction, so I'd buy where you want to live (and commute) and just be mindful of all the sign-up deadlines. I'd do it soon, though - the teams in Arlington are organized by school at first, so some of the kids will start playing together at kindergarten and stay with the same team for years.

This area is one if the hot beds of soccer in the US.

There are many elite clubs in DC, VA and MD.

Choose where you want to live for schools and commute.

Most truly great area players will switch clubs as they move along anyways. There are Prince William and McLean players playing in Arlington and vice versa. Arlingtin players in Fairfax and BRYC, etc. Travel starts at U-9 for most clubs. By U-13 some kids begin to move outside their own club for various reasons.

Big big debate, and at your kids' age, many clubs to pick from. Long term, if you kids still really love the sport, you may want to target the academy teams in the area. Think DC United, Bethesda-Olney, Baltimore Bays, etc.

This is the answer. Pick where you plan to live on more important factors and play for the local club so that your kids can meet other kids in the community. In a few years if they still enjoy it and want to play travel, they'll be at least one good club within 30 minutes of wherever you are in the DMV.

I'd say it's even more than 7 or 8 clubs. There's good soccer all around. This isn't one of those areas with one dominant club by any stretch of the imagination.

For a 4 yo and 7 yo go with wahatever club is closest and most convenient for you the parents. If your boys are still motivated and good players at U11 or U12 they can move to any one of the 7 or 8 clubs in the area that have a proven track record of producing great teams at the older ages and preparing players for college level soccer. Don't waste your time or money going outside of your local club for 4 and 7 year olds.

Recreational leagues like Bryc, fpyc, burke AC, annandale BG club, etc.

My boys are young (4 and 7) but love soccer and are very athletic. We will be moving in the next year within DMV and being close to the best soccer for them could factor into the decision of where we move. Thanks in advance!
