I had mine a few months back and it was awful, really really awful. If I ever have to do it again, I'll def ask for something.

I would push for it based on your history. My first HSG, even with Valium, was worse than the time I broke a leg.

I had the same experience with my first HSG at SGF. The RE who performed the procedure suggested that, if I need to go through an HSG again, I could do it under "light sedation", which I assume would be similar to what I had for egg retrieval. If I need to go through it again, that's my plan. I know some women have no issues with the HSG; I wish I was one of them. Unfortunately I have a tricky cervix, and it was a horrible morning for me.

My HSGs at SG have had no anesthesia, and both were fine.

My hysteroscopy at SG was with twilight, same as I got for my egg retrieval. I have a friend who did it without anything and man she said it was horrible.

I've had two HSG's at SGF. No anesthesia.

I am trying to remember but I actually think I had anesthesia. They called it twilight or something like that but I was OUT. I counted back to 8 and was out. Woke up babbling and incoherent. So I was out but I think they called it something less than full blown anesthesia--probably because it was very short. Shady Grove Fertility.

Are there any doctors in this area who would agree to do hysteroscopy and HSG using anesthesia?
