Ohhh, if she's in the bay area, order something from Good Eggs for delivery - they have food, flowers, etc.

Ended up calling the local florist. I like the grocery store idea, but I know a friend dropped some stuff off. Thanks for the suggestions, might come back to them in the future.

Call her and ask if she needs any groceries (saltine crackers, rice, soup, pedialyte/gatorade, paper products, kid food) and have them sent from the local grocery store.

Send flowers. Don't send food: she's getting over a stomach bug.

OP, you sound like an awesome SIL.

I just want to thank you on behalf of all SIL's who have been treated like shit from their SILs, and have never received any reciprocity over the years. Thank you for being thoughtful and kind.

You can't go wrong with flowers. Maybe a gift card to a local food delivery service or grocery store, or her favorite restaurant (to use when she gets better, or to order from while sick at home).

Dean & Deluca often has nice edible food gifts.

On the pricy end, Olive & Cocoa also has great savory food things.

I can't speak to experience, but there are a number of online Trail Mix websites - Jerry's Nut House, Nuts.com, that do gift orders.

My SIL is sick with the stomach flu. This is a week after she flew across the country from the Bay Area to do us a huge favor. I want to send her and two preschoolers something. She doesn't do sugar, so cookies and chocolate are out. I was thinking an edible arrangement, but that might spread the illness around. Tried Harry and David but nothing will be available until next week.

Any suggestions, or should I just go with flowers?
