According to my doc, Mirena has much less hormones than Nuvaring. He also told me that and the hormones for Mirena are localized whereas Nuvarinng hormones get into your system.

Mirena has the same hormones as the ring.

IUD is Mirena but the weight gain came before the IUD (was on no birth control for a couple of months). I don't think the weight gain is related to the Mirena.

I was on Nuvaring for several years and stopped taking it in January due to some new side effects. (Have now switched to an IUD in case that is relevant). I gained 7 or 8 pounds after that, despite no change in my eating habits and upping my exercise. I'm watching what I eat carefully, gave up desserts for lent, and still can't seem to make the scale budge. I just generally feel heavy and bloated, too. Anyone have any ideas for how to lose weight? Or encouragement that my body will normalize soon and weight will come off?
