Ashburn chess club destroys them all. Really.

Most kids will learn more and have much more fun playing with other kids (while instruction is mixed in) than being coached one-on-one. Take your son to the U.S. Chess Center classes Saturday mornings, where kids are grouped by level rather than age.

Thanks. I'm looking for personal references for particular coaches- if anyone has first hand experience with a coach, I'd like to hear about it!

I am looking for a recommendation for a chess coach. My 5 year old son is in a class now, but it's geared at children and they learn basic skills, but I think he's more advanced than the class and he'd do better with a private coach. We asked his current class coach, but he's not able to fit it into his schedule right now. I'm hoping to get one hour of private lessons each week, preferably on a weekday evening. If you have anyone to recommend, please let me know. Thank you!
