Sigh, your post doesn't help or answer my question. You had nothing to ofer but you still felt the need to state your opinion. I made it clear I don't want this to be a discussion about the merits of child birth or a debate about why csections happen. Based on what my OB said and her approach she appears more eager to jump to a csection than maybe other docs would. Therefore I am looking for an OB who isnt as eager. This is not a competition, or whatever other ridiculous concept you have of what I'm trying to achieve. If I NEED surgery then I'll get it, and be grateful for the option, however for now I'm trying to protect myself from unessasry surgery. If you can't understand that, please leave.

I don't know anyone to recommend in Virginia, OP, but I will tell you that I had an unmedicated birth with a not-very-sympathetic OB practice, and it worked out fine. The doctor on call happened to be younger and more open-minded, and I had a doula, and no problems arose that caused them to push back on me. I know I got lucky, but I just wanted to let you know it can happen in some cases even if your OB isn't really on board. Good luck!

someone on your other thread said that they thought the hospital would be the bigger problem and I just want to say I strongly disagree with that. It is far more important who your Dr/midwife is than what hospital/health center you deliver at. As long as you have a Dr./midwife who knows your preferences and supports you in them, the hospital itself could not care less what you do...I think the person who posted that probably says that because there are a high number of babies born via c-section at Inova Fairfax but this is primarily because of the large number of high risk patients who go to that hospital, not because the hospital is pushing c-sections. I went to physicians and midwives. They have offices all over nova, but only deliver at Alexandria. If you are low risk, you will only ever see midwives.

They were very supportive of whatever birth plan you want. (Mine was drugs drugs drugs, but they do many natural births!)

Up with 2 posts. This one is the one I meant to send. Sorry for the "spam" thanks for any advice you may have.

I live in VA, I'll drive if needed but prefer something closer. I would only deliver in a hospital (at home options are out).

-GW midwives are full.
-WHC midwives are really far, they are a maybe. If you have delivered w them please do share!

My current OB is "ok" with natural birth, but doesn't encourage it. The way she talks about delivery makes her sound high intervention (NGFW @ Fairfax hospital).

I am 24 weeks, I don't have time to interview many OBs, if I switch I want to be sure it's to a great dr or group of
Drs. I am hoping to get info on OBs that support natural birth if I choose to do that, that know ways to aid vaginal birth with positions and labor w/ low intervention. Most importantly one that won't default to a csection right away or based on the clock. If your practice was like this please tell me about them.

For those who find my post offensive or against your opinion, please spare me the lecture about having an ideal birth plan or get mad about it. I don't have a "vision" for this I just want to avoid surgery unless absolutely necessary. I am ok with pain management and other interventions if they help, but I have read that they sometimes lead to surgery.
