Trader Joe's fresh pesto is much better than Costco's.

I've never tried the Pesto before but Costco has stopped carrying some of our go to faves before (remember the 6 pack of Beringer wine).

Is it really that easy to make it yourself? Please share some tips.

Super easy. Basil + toasted pine nuts (or walnuts), olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper. When I have it, good parmesan. Sometimes I'm not so lucky, so I don't add it.

Add to food processor. Process.

Have also made with 1/2 basil, half parsley with awesome results (different taste, but awesome results)

I wouldn't consider it true pesto without th echeese

Needs garlic too.

You'd make Martha Stewart proud. I have to admit that it doesn't sound too hard, but by the time I found all the ingredients it would be cheaper just to buy it at Costco. Thank you for being so nice to share how to make, though! See, some people on DCUM really are nice!! Jeff would be proud.

I just bought some at the DC Costco yesterday.

To all the food snobs out there--I love to make my own with fresh basil all summer. I typically hate prepared pesto, but this shit is awesome. If you have not tried it, please do so.

Calm down, OP!
They are most likely temporarily out. Check with an employee.

Meh, even Walmart had basil at this time of year. Even bad basil pesto beats bottled pesto.
