Stuart Hobson, a Ward 6 middle school, got a modernization that cost upwards of $34 million - and they are advocating for even more to "finish" the project. Why should Ward 6 get even more money?

Murch looks even worse, serves almost 400 more kids than EH and was pushed back for years. I hope the statement about renovations being based on need and enrollment actually happen. Such a shit show-- pun intended.

Thanks Muriel, at least now we're starting to get a sense of what "Alice Deal for all" means.

Wow...I would have guessed that photo was taken in the NYC subway

I'm surprised people are surprised at this. The restrooms at Hyde looked exactly like that until last summer. I don't think you could shame anyone into action on this. They all already know.

Wow, that speaks volumes. Please, please pass that along so that it can be seen and understood broadly. I think families at schools who are getting shafted by renovations delays should snap all sort of these photos and publicize it. Nothing works like shaming leaders into action.

All these numbers are simply OBSCENE when the city's best high school, Wilson, is losing 10% of its budget.

Didn't Cardozo & Dunbar cost like $190 million a piece?

They need to collect tuition in addition to just asking for it.

How can they justify that much money? Will they raise tuition for those not from DC??

The price tag for Duke Ellington increased, money is going to a new Ward 4 middle school and Ward 4 Coolidge High School, but:

"two middle schools in Ward 6 — Jefferson Academy and Eliot-Hine — had funding delayed from 2016 to 2019."

"a $24 million renovation for Browne Education Campus in Ward 5 that was moved from 2016 to 2019 and a $13.9 million renovation for Houston Elementary in Ward 7 that was moved from 2017 to 2019. Both projects saw their planned budgets decrease."

According to a tweet from the author this article:

@michaelalison
Mayor’s capital plan delays well over a dozen school projects http://t.co/hZDDDBOwTN Closer to 20, by my count
