Turn the sink faucet one low so he can hear the water running. It'll help.

guy here. That's not entirely true. Depending on the intensity of morning wood, it can be difficult. Plus, pushing it down to aim restricts the flow even more. On top of that, you often can't get a great stream initially with an erection so it can start out more like the spray of wiper fluid on your car windshield. Or you can get the occasional 45 degree angle stream that misses the bowl completely. So I'll politely disagree about "easily".

That being said, OP should find out if her son's issue is erection-related (preferably by dad) or consult the pediatrician.

If it's first thing in the morning while he still has an erection, it can be normal. If it's anytime during the rest of the day or night I would have it checked out by a doctor.

My Ds has a hard time peeing immediately after he wakes up if he still has an erection, but he forces it sometimes. My Dh reports that he doesn't try until the erection goes down because it's difficult.

Recently my 8 year old son has said that he can't start peeing when he wants to go. It happens perhaps once a day. We've been struggling to find a medical explanation but I wondered whether it could actually be something simpler. We all know that adult men can't pee easily with an erect penis. Does this happen to little boys too?
