We stuck with our neighborhood school rather than apply for the TAG specialty program for 2nd grade partly for convenience (the school is within walking distance from our home). This year we decided to apply for the lottery just to have the option available if we wanted to consider another school (we could always decline a spot, in our view).

Staying in our neighborhood Catholic school. Didn't apply for the lottery.

And it's not that my child can't do the work. It's that I don't want his life to be dominated by homework. Nope.

OP here-
This is exactly why we didn't go for the TAG Elementary school this year. If our child isn't challenged enough by at the local school we can reassess and try to get her into TAG next year.

We're staying at our local school because it's a block from our house, and it's terrific.

not something I would consider

Why do u think that? Greebelt elementary 2014 test scores in reading and math are all in the upper 80's low 90's percentile through all grades. Though glenarden woods is fantastic

Our local school might be an option if they didn't end so darn early! The kids are out of school before 2pm, and we just can't swing it right now. My oldest will be in K next year, and my youngest the year after that. If we don't get into any of the specialty/charter schools, it is definitely an option when both are in the same place.

We opted not to apply for the TAG lottery. Anyone else decide just to stay at their local school?
