That is an amazing idea.

Just starting my first this year. I got the 4'x8' 2 level one from Home Depot. Mixed the soil myself, and am germinating everything now. Once it gets closer to Mother's Day (normally when you're safe from frost around here), I'll use twine and my staple gun to create the sections and transplant. I sketched out everything before hand, attached a wooden trellis to one side and planned out the bird/squirrel cover (PVC pipe).

Fingers crossed!

Love it! I can grow tons of stuff in two boxes.

Pros - as PP said high yield in small area; easy to water and maintain since everything is in a small area. It's easy and inexpensive to use really good quality soil and compost since it's such a small area. Also having a small area makes it easier and cheaper to enclose, in hopes of keeping out critters.

Cons - if you're not good about pruning, it can become overgrown and unruly and hard to reach the plants in the middle.

I love it. High yield in small space. I've followed it to a T and had abundant healthy produce. Only con I can think of is it is difficult to grow carrots and potatoes - thinks that need depth.
